Montessori Classrooms
Each Montessori classroom, from birth through kindergarten operates on the same principal of freedom within the limits. Montessori classrooms are structured in an unstructured way. Each program has its set of ground rules. While these differ from age to age, they are always based on core Montessori beliefs – respect for others and the environment.
Children are free to work at their own pace choosing their own “work”. They can work alone or with others integrating individual choice and group activities. Through daily observation the teacher decides what activities and materials to introduce in the classroom. The goal is to encourage active, self directed learning and strike a balance of individual mastery.
